La Cumbia de Obama

Because a reggaeton and mariachi aren’t enough to please Latinos, now there’s an Obama cumbia.

Ok if Obama wants the Rican vote, I need an Obama salsa. Dominicans in my hood want an Obama merengue or bachata. Do we have a vallenato for the Colombianos? A whole Latino Obama mixed cd!

Girlchild Press has a new book out, Just Like A Girl, featuring the writings of some of the smartest girls/women out there and yes, myself included.

Through the end of this month, April, you can get your hands on this book at the sale price of $15 (regular price is $20). And no I don’t get money from sales, so it’s not going into my pocket but into supporting the words of mujeres.

First John McCain Ad in Espanish

So is the man you’ve been waiting for Latinos? The ad is nearly identical to an English language ad with one exception.

The tag line. In English, it is “The American president Americans have been waiting for.” In Spanish, it is “The president that all of us in the United States had been waiting for.” (“El presidente que todos en Estados Unidos estábamos esperando”).
Throughout Latin America, the term “American” (“americano”) refers to any resident of North, South or Central America. The McCain campaign clearly took note of this subtle but important distinction.
