Yesterday House Republicans made a move to force the Shuler/Tancredo “SAVE Act” to a vote on the floor. This “discharge petition” is a special procedural motion that would allow the sponsors of the Shuler-Tancredo bill to take it straight to the floor of the House without having to go through the full committee process and then force a vote.
The bill would force all employers, within four years, to use the E-verify employment authorization verification system, which has been criticized as flawed, for all workers—new hires and current workers.
If an employee finds an error they would only have 10 days to make corrections or face termination.
It would require all local law enforcement agencies to become immigration agents, requiring them to do immigration checks at every traffic stop and domestic dispute, etc.
And if you think that this is only a Republican measure take a peek at all the Democrats behind the bill moving forward: DEMOCRATS SPONSORING SAVE ACT

1 Response to Alert : Dangerous Immigration Bill Moving Forward
EYES OF TEXAS
March 13th, 2008 at 10:06 am
Agood friend of mine has to return to Aberbeen, Scotland because his work visa is about to expire and will not be renewed until he returns home. Every nation, at least most, have regulations to prevent foriegn workers from entering their country and filling jobs that can be filled by its own nationals. Why is it wrong to expect the U.S. to have the same type of regulations? Americans will, and do, any job for a fair wage. The Save Act will return jobs to unemployed American citizens and eliminate the practice of employers hiring cheap illegal labor. By drying up the job market for illegal aliens they will be forced to go elsewhere to find jobs and the uncontrolled illegal immigration will stop. Sounds like our elected officials are starting to see the light and will represent the will of citizens instead of illegal agitators.
