A few minutes ago, via a press conference that allowed for no questions, NY State Governor Eliot Spitzer resigned, following his being outed as using the services of high priced prostitutes. Spitzer said that effective Monday, March 17th, David Paterson will become governor, becoming the state’s first black and first blind governor.

In the local media, the fact that Spitzer kept referring to the scandal as a “private affair”, didn’t go over well, since he is a public figure in the service of the public.

Also the media focused much of their attention on Eliot’s wife, Silda, and how she’s standing by her man, although looking defeated/emotionless (how would you look if your man cheated on you) depending on who you watch/listen/read.

Some are also predicting that this scandal and Silda’s Spitzer decision to stand by her man, will help Hillary Clinton’s presidential bid, recalling Bill Clinton’s own sex scandal.
