Aterciopelados : Cancion Protesta

Our friends over at the Latin Americanist posted this same video last week, but now it seems even more relevant.

This song is a tribute to the protest song tradition from the 1960’s and 70s. The group is seen playing guitars made out of guns, as a statement of anti-violence; the group has been honored by the United Nations for their work denouncing violence in Colombia and is also very active in the eco-effects of pesticides spraying in their country as a result of the very real effects of us foreign policy in Colombia.

WE HAVE TO STOP THE VIOLENCE! I wish more artists were making more statements like this, but I’m so glad Atercio’s did…
