>Yesterday Los Tigres del Norte released their latest album, Raices. The Grammy winning artists released this as the first of two albums planned for release this year that feature newly recorded versions of classic Mexican songs.
The album is getting lots of play in my Mexican hood and is featured prominently in the local record shop.

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, or just tend to ignore these types of things, Hillary Clinton had her comeback moment last night, winning the primaries in both Texas and Ohio (and Rhode Island).
I haven’t read all the media this morning but I just know everyone is gonna thank that Latino vote. Oh wait here’s something:
Exit polls also showed Hispanics casting 30 percent of the Texas Democratic primary vote, giving Clinton nearly two-thirds of their votes and giving her once again the domination she had enjoyed among Hispanic voters in California, New York and New Jersey on Super Tuesday.

Our friends over at the Latin Americanist posted this same video last week, but now it seems even more relevant.
This song is a tribute to the protest song tradition from the 1960′s and 70s. The group is seen playing guitars made out of guns, as a statement of anti-violence; the group has been honored by the United Nations for their work denouncing violence in Colombia and is also very active in the eco-effects of pesticides spraying in their country as a result of the very real effects of us foreign policy in Colombia.
Special shout out of gracias to Daina Kreuter at Nacional Records.

With the escalating war of words and laptops going on among Ecuador, Colombia, and Venezuela let’s get Hugo Chavez’s aka Latin American enemy #1 (even beating out Fidel!)take on things.
Before sending troops to the Colombian border, On Sunday during his weekly talk show he said:
The Colombian government has turned into the Israel of Latin America. Colombia is a terrorist state that is subject to the great terrorist, the government of the United States and their apparatus.
