>While some people forget that Puerto Ricans are U.S. citizens, the U.S. government has zero problem cracking down on those who struggle for the independence of the colony. Yesterday the FBI announced the arrest of one of three Macheteros in relation to a 1983 Connecticut robbery.
The U.S. gov considers the Macheteros and those who support their efforts terrorists, as evident by the FBI murder of Filiberto Ojeda Rios.
Now I’m not one to advocate violence in the name of the independence of Puerto Rico (or am I?) but given the recently stepped up crackdown on independence activists in Puerto Rico and here in the US, it’s concerning that we may be returning to a cointelpro like period in the Puerto Rican movement.
