45667.jpgActress Eva Mendes is reportedly in rehab for some unknown substance abuse problem. TMZ reports:

We’re told the “Ghost Rider” star is at the famous Cirque Lodge, near Sundance. The Lodge, which treated Lindsay Lohan and other stars, is one of the most respected treatment facilities in the country.

Eva has been at Cirque for several weeks.

Her rep tells TMZ “Eva has been working hard for the past year and made a positive decision to take some much-needed time off to proactively attend to some personal issues that, while not critical, she felt deserved some outside professional support. Out of respect for Eva’s privacy, we do not wish to discuss further details.”

Given the great work they’ve done with Lindsay Lohan, I guess we have nothing to worry about!

Grassroots political organization MoveOn, in a rather unsurprising move, has endorsed Senator Barack Obama as their candidate for president:

“We’ve learned that the key to achieving change in Washington without compromising core values is having a galvanized electorate to back you up,” said Executive Director Eli Pariser, “and Barack Obama has our members ‘fired up and ready to go’ on that front.”

Meanwhile, in what might be a kiss of death for Hillary Clinton, conservative loca Ann Coulter said on Fox News that she would not only vote for Hillary in a race McCain-Clinton face-off, but that she would even campaign for her. She says that Hillary is “more conservative” than John McCain and “lept up” in supporting troop surge in Iraq. Check out the video above.

I caught the debate last night and was pretty disappointed. Obama and Clinton, in an attempt to live down criticism about their brawling at the last debate, seemed like clones of each other. It was virtually impossible to distinguish between the stances of each on any topic with the exception of healthcare. It was all peace and love and no real answers. On immigration, Obama was strictly party line and Hillary sounded a lot more progressive.

Meanwhile, at least one Latino commentator suggests McCain might the right choice for Latinos.

Those wacky Germans! The song performed above, Finger im Po Mexiko means Finger in the butt, Mexico, and that has pissed off the Mexican government because well they may like booty but they don’t want to be called it.

Germany’s mass-circulation daily Bild reported Thursday that Ambassador Jorge Castro-Valle Kuehne has written a letter of complaint to EMI, the record company which publishes the song.
The newspaper quotes the ambassador as writing: “As I’m sure you can understand, the lyric has aroused great outrage among the members of the Mexican community living in Germany, who have a right to be angry that Mexico’s name is being used in this kind of disrespectful and disgusting way.”

I%2520Am%2520Not%2520My%2520Breast%2520Cancer.jpgBreast cancer is an issue that has touched me and many others in the Latino community personally. A new book out hopes to appeal to all women struggling with this disease. I Am Not My Breast Cancer: Women Talk Openly About Love and Sex, Hair Loss and Weight Gain, Mothers and Daughters, and Being a Woman with Breast Cancer by Ruth Peltason is a hardcover self-help book meant to act as a friend throughout all the different stages and challenges women with breast cancer have to confront. I loved the way that the book was organized, chronologically through the stages of diagnosis, treatment, recovery, and self-discovery. I also liked that this book wasn’t about one expert talking to those struggling with breast cancer. It was the unique and diverse voices of 800 women—from every state in the nation and from continents as far away as Australia and Africa speaking their truths about how they dealt with everything from how they were told about their diagnosis to facing mortality.
