14 Jan 2008After being freed from her time as a hostage with the FARC, Clara Rojas was reunited with her son Emmanuel. The boy, now four, was last with his mother when he was 8 months old and taken from her to get medical care. At the meeting, Emmanuel gave his mother a picture and the two shared a tear jerking hug.
Emmanuel has been transferred with his mother to a special location,” said Elvira Forero, director of the Colombian Family Welfare Institute, which has been caring for the boy.
“They had a six-hour get-to-know session today in hopes of restoring family ties.”
She said Emmanuel would be “living with his mother temporarily until we finish all the paper work”.
The boy was renamed when he came into the custody of Colombian Child Services, but now, at the request of his mother, will be legally known as Emmanuel.
