Obama and Huckabee Take Iowa

03caucus-18-600.jpgYesterday, Jennifer explained to us all what the deal was with the Iowa Caucus. This morning we have two clear winners in that caucus. Barack Obama and Mike Huckabee each won in their respective parties. The big surprise was Hillary Clinton's coming in not second, but third place!

Mr. Huckabee won with 34.4 percent of the delegate support, after 86 percent of precincts had reported. Mr. Romney had 25.4 percent, former Senator Fred D. Thompson of Tennessee had 13.4 percent and Senator John McCain of Arizona had 13.2 percent.
On the Democratic side, with 100 percent of precincts reporting, Mr. Obama had 37.6 percent of the delegate support, Mr. Edwards 29.8 percent and Mrs. Clinton had 29.5 percent. Gov. Bill Richardson of New Mexico was fourth, at 2.11 percent.

In the aftermath of Iowa, two Democratic contenders have dropped out. Senator Joseph R. Biden Jr. of Delaware and Senator Christopher J. Dodd of Connecticut. Who hasn't dropped out? Dennis Kucinich! Even after winning 0% in Iowa. He's kooky but I kind of like his kookiness.

Now it's on to New Hampshire. If Obama can win a state as white as Iowa, there's no stopping him.

Also I'm glad to see that Giuliani (whom I really, really dislike thanks to some personal experiences when he was mayor here in NYC) came in so low. I'm waiting for him to drop out and crawl back under the rock he came from.
