La Mala’s Musica of the Year

This time of year is chock full of lists looking back at the year that is ending and VivirLatino is no different. 2007 was a year of great musica and I have my favorites. Here they are in no particular order:Calle13.jpgCalle 13’s Resident o Vistante. How could my Ricans not be on my list. I was blessed enough to go to the release party and get close and personal with the chicos and I saw them sweep the Latin Grammy Awards in Vegas. Their lyrics are unbeatable and musica with a message always makes la mala happy.

juanes.jpgThis year could very well be called the year of Juanes. His much anticipated album, La Vida es un Ratico was well received . His tour for next year has people lining up for tix. No wonder he has a statue. sino.jpgOk I’ll be honest, Cafe Tacuba’s Sino would be my choice for best album of 2007. They rocked Central Park and their album has song after song that shows that they really are the reyes of rock latino.

SO, SO, SO, SO f’ing glad you didn’t say “circo” or “kinky” had the albums of the year! whew… i still respect you, mala. also, as a rockero and a hater of reggeaton, calle 13, via your recommendation was a very very very welcome addition to my playlists. as far as
innovation and sound and depth, they were the best in my book. good work, chica.

Eff you and thank you Marco. Actually I have a new respect for Kinky after seeing them perform live at a Pre-Latin Grammy event in Vegas. I think the really rock on stage and that just doesn’t translate that well to a cd.
