Que chido el show! About the only “complaint” I have about the first show was the lack of stage space for Ruben, er, to really let loose with his dance moves (though Meme was just fine up on his tiny dais). About 1,200 people – mostly young Latinos, but there were a few older, but lively, non-Latinos sprinkled throughout – packed a cramp but very intimate Neighborhood Theatre on Friday night. Maybe it was the adrenaline, but no one seemed to notice a few early sound glitches. Didn’t matter. The band, greeted by chants of “Mexico” and a red, white and green flag in front of the lead mike, continually fed off the crowd’s energy and delivered a show that kept the mosh pit and crowd surfers going for the 2-hour set.
Here’s the playlist. I think I got all of them in order they were played, except for 1 or 2 songs.
