Spaniards go wild for the King’s “Shut up”

Several days have passed since Juan Carlos, King of Spain, told our friend Huguito Chavez to shut his trap, but the hype hasn’t died down in the mouths of Spaniards or on the Internet. The King’s little scene — dubbed “el porquenotecallas” (“the whydon’tyoushutup”) is the most searched term on web here, and the video has been remade into a bunch of different versions, among them hip hop and reggaeton:


According to Spain’s El País , just minutes after the video of the scene broke, the domain names porquenotecallas.com, .org and .es had already been registered. And that’s not all; the latest and greatest hit in the lucrative Spanish ringtone market is the porquenotecallas cell phone melody, currently the most downloaded tone on the market.

And what do Venezuelans here in Spain here think of the incident? At least according to this report, many residing of Madrid support the King over their own President:
