Bush to Issue Warning On Cuba Power Shift

bush_phone_upsidedown.jpgPresident Bush can’t define the word sovereignty, so it comes as no surprise that he is messing in the affairs of another country, yet again. The U.S. pres is planning to issue a stern warning (much like a father would) today to Cuba, that the United States will not accept a political transition in Cuba in which power changes from one Castro brother to another, rather than to the Cuban people (meaning the Cuban people that agree with Bush policies and certain interventions by the U.S.).

The speech, scheduled to be given at the State Department before invited Cuban dissidents, will introduce the relatives of four Cuban prisoners being held for political crimes. A senior administration official said the president wanted to “put a human face,” on Cuba’s “assault on freedom.”
He will say that while much of the rest of Latin America has moved from dictatorship to democracy, Cuba continues to use repression and terror to control its people. And, the administration official said, Mr. Bush will direct another part of his speech to the Cuban people, telling them they “have the power to shape their destiny and bring about change.”

Now before all the Cubanos start jumping on my ass, I’m not against dissidence but talk about the pot calling the kettle black. The U.S. government has yet to put a human face on the damage it is doing in Iraq and in other parts of the world, Latin America included. This is not about defending the Castro brothers but rather calling out the situation for what it really is. Bush and the Republicans kissing Miami Cuban culo since before this oh so stern warning, the administration didn’t say much about Raul Castro stepping up to the plate. What better time to kiss ass than when an election is right around the corner.
