Today the much anticipated new Juanes album, La Vida es un Ratico, is out. The first single off the album, Me Enamora, has been breaking all sorts of records, holding a top spot for weeks in a row in the U.S. and at least 13 other countries.
I’ve been listening to the new album with my morning coffee and Juanes’ sound on la Vida is refreshing and different from his previous albums. I would say its not as dancy but rather shows a more mature Juanes with strong rock and even reggae influences. Juanes even gets political with a song about land mines, Minas Piedras, an issue he’s been working on for a while now.
My favorite song from the album, this morning Tres has me moving my hips.
So go and check out Juanes because la Vida really is un ratico no mas and shouldn’t we fill it with good music?
P.S.- Someone needs to tell iTunes that Juanes is not in the genre of reggaeton and hip hop.

After reading your review of the whole cd(and no Beyonce duets)I’ll definitely get it today. There was kind of a drought of music I was excited about for a while then Manu Chao, Cafe Tacuba, and Juanes the same month(or so).
iTunes: They receive it from the record company Latin division. Look at the cover art. If its not 12 guys in cowboy hats it must be Reggaeton.

Yeah it’s been a great month for music. It really is a nice cd. I’ll admit I wasn’t moved by me enamora but listening to the whole cd together, it really is nice!
ha ha, about the classification of the album. It’s just so silly how little is still known about all the different genres of Latino music.
Get it!!

I downloaded the album this morning and I really like it. My daughter likes it as well and we decided to try and get concert tix if he comes out our way.
I too was wondering about the reggaeton label. Go figure!
