I feel horribly ignorant because I had never heard of this artist until now. But I think the award will likely go to Ricky Martin, even though Andres Calamaro or Chico Buarque probably deserve it more.

Last year Maegan told us about how Lost’s Michelle Rodriguez was granted a get out of jail free card for her drunk driving incident — provided she perform community service. But it looks like Michelle opted to flake on that, and is facing jail again:
Rodriguez went to court Friday to answer to the latest claims by the city attorney’s office, which said the former “Lost” actress submitted a document stating she performed community service on Sept. 25, 2006, but later admitted she was actually in New York City that day.
Rodriguez was in Los Angeles to face the judge who sentenced her to work on a road maintenance crew for the community service portion of her sentence. The judge wasn’t amused:
“I’m not impressed with your completion schedule,” she said. “There were 55 people here in court today and all but very few have completed their responsibilities. They work on much less flexible schedules than you do.”
Yeah, “regular” people don’t have the luxury of taking a month off of work on a highway crew, but they get it done somehow. Why can’t Michelle?

Last week we told you about Hugo Chavez’s record-breaking 8-hour blab fest which featured the Venezuelan leader offering his audience a few songs. It seems that Huguito’s love for song goes a bit further than his spontaneous karaoke moment: he’s putting out a CD of his favorites tunes, sung by him.
“The CD was recorded by Teresita Maniglia, presidential press chief,” revealed Chavez, laughing, on his Sunday radio and TV program Aló Presidente. “Timeless songs…You all will hear this and laugh!,” said the leader…On the cover of the CD there is a closeup of Chávez’s face, smiling, microphone is hand, dressed in his characteristic red shirt and llanero hat. The leader and defender of socialism of the 21st century didn’t give details about what songs would appear on the CD, nor did he mention if it would be sold or available free to the public.
Chávez tends to sing in nearly all of his speeches, mostly traditional Venezuelan songs and some Mexican rancheras.
God help us all.

Pablo Montero may be fighting drug and paternity charges, but he’s not denying that he’s a papi, as in father. On Friday afternoon, Sandra Vidal gave birth in Los Angeles to Oscar Hernandez. The baby weighed over 7 pounds and both mami and baby are doing well. Pablo is being quoted as saying that there’s no denying that this baby is his because Oscarsito looks just like papi, with big eyes and lots of hair (hopefully without all the gel that Pablo uses).

The trend in Latin America is to push to rewrite constitutions with socialist flair. Jumping on this trend is Ecuador’s President Rafael Correa. Unofficially, a quick count by a local citizens’ group at thousands of polls indicated strong support for the president’s party in a vote that happened yesterday. The official results won’t be known for at least 20 days. Some of the changes proposed include letting presidents serve two consecutive four-year terms instead of the one allowed now.
