The newswires are going crazy with the news that Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez “threatening” to close or take over schools that don’t allow the government to oversee their use of a new curriculum and textbooks.
“Society cannot allow the private sector to do whatever it wants,” said Chavez, speaking on the first day of classes.
All schools, public and private, must admit state inspectors and submit to the government’s new educational system, or be closed and nationalized, with the state taking responsibility for the education of their children, Chavez said
Seriously folks, how is this any different from here?

Texican bombshell and Desperate Housewives star Eva Longoria tells Extra TV that she hates kissing on-screen, and her hubby, Tony Parker, ain’t too happy with it either:
I hate the kissing. Kissing is the most intimate thing,” Longoria tells Extra TV. “It was weird for me before I was married.”Texas-raised Longoria, 32, who wed San Antonio Spurs player Tony Parker, 25, in France on July 7, admits that onscreen lip-locks aren’t a popular topic at home either.
“I’m not sure he’s happy with it, but he’s not the crazy husband about it,” the Desperate Housewives star says. “We don’t talk about it because it’s just not a comfortable thing to talk about.”
People magazine reports that the newlywed Parkers want to live in Texas, and spend their summers in France

On Thursday, Elvira Arellano‘s 8 year old son Saul, was reunited with his activist mother in Mexico, for good. Saul is set to start third grade in Elvira’s home state of Michoacan. Elvira was arrested and deported from the U.S. in August, leaving her U.S. citizen son behind.
