It seems Latin America has never been as aligned as it is now. Some evidence of this has come in the form of a speech made by Argentine president Nestor Kirchner on a recent trip to Mexico City, in which he condemned the proposed wall between Mexico and the United States. In his speech before the Mexican senate, Kirchner said:
“I want to make it clear to all of you that there in nothing but repudiation of the Argentine people towards the dreadful wall that is being built between our sister nation Mexico, and the United States,” said the president, who couldn’t finish the sentence because he was interrupted by the applause of legislators.

People en Español’s September issue contains their best dressed list and on the top of it is Jennifer López, reclaiming the place she once held in 2003. But the ghosts of her hubby, Marc Anthony’s past follow J. Lo. everywhere with his ex, 1993 Miss Universe Dayanara Torres coming in third place. Mexican actress and singer Lucero came in at number 8. Cameron Diaz, Penélope Cruz and Ugly Betty América Ferrara also are listed. There is also some dulce masculino with Gael García Bernal being featured for his “look bohemio” and Ricky Martin being hailed for his modern elegance. The Rican duo Calle 13 is featured for their “best personal style”.
But um can someone please explain why oh why the had to stick Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt in there?

1 Aug 2007I think Juan Gomez should be allowed to stay in the U.S. and finish his studies here if he so chooses. But I’m getting a little tired of politicians using poster boy model minority Latinos as a way of avoiding dealing with the real issues surrounding immigration “reform” and yes racism. After all what red-blooded American wouldn’t want to call Juan his own. Juan writes:
On the verge of our 2nd and 3rd birthdays, my bother Alejandro Gomez and I, Juan Sebastian Gomez, were brought to a country which symbolized success and the pursuit of happiness. After 17 years, America is all we know. Both of us are fearful of a future in Colombia. Colombia would be as foreign as China to us. Both of us have lost most of our Spanish speaking skills. My brother and I are American no matter what a piece of paper tells us. Our whole family has worked hard in order to better ourselves in the country we call home. Academically, we have both strived and succeeded with hopes that our accomplishments would outshine our immigration status. All of our hard work will hopefully allow us to continue living and contributing to this wonderful country. Our hopes were in the passage of the Dream Act and becoming the first Dream Children.
He can’t even speak Spanish! He’s almost like you and just look at all the nice white people who defend Juan (video after the jump).
