You've been served: $1.49 for tap water

PepsiCo punked you. That wonderful spring water you've been paying a buck fifty for is the same stuff that comes out of your kitchen sink:
A group called Corporate Accountability International has been pressuring bottled water sellers to curb what it calls misleading marketing practices. The group has criticized PepsiCo over its blue Aquafina label with a mountain logo as perpetuating the misconception that the water comes from spring sources.Of course, PepsiCo says they never called it "spring water", but somehow the image of glacial mountains on the label doesn't make me think of the centuries-old San Francisco municipal water system.Aquafina is the single biggest bottled water brand, and its bottles are now labeled “P.W.S.” The new labels will spell out “public water source.”
As for Aquafina's competitor, Coca Cola's Dasani, it's also good old tap water, but they will not be changing the label.

I don't understand what all the fuss is about. If you read the label, it does not talk about the water coming from the spring or mountains-- I tend to look at the print rather than the images when reading a label. The label describes a 7-step filtration process that is more than my own city can provide me. The tap water in my city, Washington DC, is not safe for drinking. So at home I use a filter but if I am on the go, I just want to know that the water I am buying is clean and safe to drink. Knowing that Aquafina filters their water before bottling it is good enough for me!
