1%2Bcopia.jpgAh, crushes. How many of us have pined after celebrities, sighed for politicians, and dreamed of romantic interludes with other public figures. Most of us don’t write about these little fantasies on our blogs (thank God) but a certain Peruvian journalist, one Luis Iparraguirre (pictured above, in the middle), did, and let the world know about his love for his country’s Foreign Minister, Mercedes Araoz. His blog, Crónicas de Pollada (gotta love that name), was the scene of the declaration of love, and little did he know that his “Carta de Amor” would actually reach the object of his affections:

In a love letter published on his blog, journalist Luis Iparraguirre tells the Minister: “Can I call you Meche? Can I call you mine? Hey, I know you are not, but you will be tonight in my dreams.”

Illegal Immigration : Blame Aborted Fetuses

tom.jpgFormer Republican Congressman Tom DeLay knows exactly who to blames for the “illegal” invasion of immigrants, 40 million aborted fetuses. In a speech to college Republicans DeLay said:

If you believe abortion, if you believe that doesn’t affect you… I contend it affects you in immigration. If we had those 40 million children that were killed over the last 40 years, we wouldn’t need the illegal immigrants to fill the jobs that they are doing today. Think about it.

While you try and wrap your brain around the ridiculousness you can actually see Delay say this here(You have to fast forward to 3:45 unless you want to watch and listen to scary young Republicans until then).

JLo and Marc to hit the road together

jlo1.jpgPuerto Rican power couple JLo and Marc Anthony will be taking their oh-so-perfect love on the road on their first national tour together, reports People magazine:

Jennifer Lopez and husband Marc Anthony will co-headline their first tour together this fall.

The occasion will mark Lopez’s first-ever live concert road trip.

The couple, both 38, will perform separate sets of their own material and will also duet together, and each set will include songs in English and Spanish, according to representatives for the duo.

I wonder if this isn’t going to deal a deadly blow to JLo’s career. Not all are her fans are fans of her husband, and having to sit through his numbers or relive the whole duet thing again. What’s next, a Sonny and Cher-like TV special?

On the bright side of things, People reports that the tour will have an altruistic mission: to bring attention to the problem of childhood obesity in the Latino community. A worthy cause indeed, but isn’t Marc like the last person on earth that should be a poster child for this?

Gonzales : A Regular Fix It Guy

8:37 am By Jennifer Woodard Maderazo · Politics · Comments Off

24 Jul 2007

gonzales.jpgAttorney General Alberto Gonzales is just a good old fix it guy, vowing to stay in office to fix problems with the Justice Department. Gonzales acknowledged the Justice Department has been shaken by accusations that partisan politics played a role in hiring practices and the administration of justice.

“There are two options available in light of these allegations,” Gonzales said. “I could walk away or I could devote my time, effort and energy to fix the problems.”
“Since I have never been one to quit, I decided that the best course of action was to remain here and fix the problems.”
