There’s nothing funny about killing dolphins but someone apparently forgot to tell that to a crew of Brazilian fishermen who were captured on video killing 83 dolphins. The video, broadcast on Brazilian television last night, showed the fishermen netting the dolphins causing the marine mammals to suffocate because they could not surface to breathe. A researcher went undercover aboard the fishing boat to monitor hauls of other fish.
The dolphin kill was filmed while the boat was off the coast of Amapa state, near the point where the Amazon River flows into the Atlantic Ocean. As the dolphins were hauled from the sea and piled on the boat’s deck, fishermen on board laughed after someone said, “Everyone’s going to jail after this filming!”
What’s really funny in a sad way is that no one has been charged or fined because authorities were still trying to identify the fishermen caught on video.

In many a beauty pageants fake augmentation is considered the norm. This is not the case in Bolivia’s Miss Cholita Pacena pageant where the use of something fake cost the winner her crown. When Mariela Molinedo won on July 13, she was being lauded for exemplifying Indigenous Bolivian women and their traditional fashion of of a wide skirt, bowler hat and long braided hair. The contestants also had to make a speech in native Aymara, the language of the Indigenous local community. There was one problem with Mariela though. Her braids, fake.
The judges “disqualified the winner because they realized she didn’t have braids, that the braids she had were false,” he told Reuters. “Having short hair means they don’t live like Cholitas.”
Damn imagine if Miss Universe was handled like that. Taking away crowns because of fake um assets. There would be no contestants!!!

When Texas-based pizza chain Pizza Patron began accepting Mexican pesos as a form of payment for its pizzas last year, there was outrage among right-wingers who despised this “catering to” Mexican residents in the state. Well, the publicity must have worked well for Pizza Patron as another Texas business is replicating its model. Value Giant, a Dallas-area retailer, announced that it will also be accepting pesos at its stores.
Just a publicity stunt or a sincere attempt to better serve their Mexican customers? What do you think?

I’m not sure when it was that Forbes went from rating rich CEOs to Hollywood bombshells, but last week they released a list of Hollywood’s Sexiest Women. According to them — and they should know (?) — Salma Hayek is the sexiest woman in show business.
After Salma at #1, the list gets a bit debatable. Carmen Electra and Jessica Alba tie for number two. Then the list goes on:
4. Shakira
5. Beyonce/Halle Berry/Eva Longoria (tie)
8. Catherine Zeta Jones
9. Elizabeth Hurley/Raquel Welch/Jessica Biel (tie)
12. JLo/Alyssa Milano (tie)
14. Pamela Anderson/Angelina Jolie (tie)
Is it just me or does this list seem like it’s from 2001? Pamela Anderson is tied with Angelina Jolie? Elizabeth Hurley tied with Jessica Biel? I guess that’s what you get when you have a business magazine do fluff pieces. Just weird.
