While Latino gossip blogger extraordinaire, Perez Hilton, might have had some trouble lately, it looks like his chisme empire might be expanding beyond the Internet and into television. The Hollywood Reporter says:
It looks like VH1 is getting into business with celebrity blogger Perez Hilton. The network, whose programming tends to center on pop culture and music, is believed to be ordering six hourlong episodes of a series tentatively titled “What Perez Says,” but it’s understood that the show’s details are still being worked out.
Hilton (aka Mario Lavandeira) let the news slip Friday morning during an appearance on ABC’s “The View”.
“Perez was on The View? When will Mala and I receive such illustrious invitations?
This wouldn’t be Perez’s first time on VH1; some of you might have seen him on the network’s weekly show “Best Week Ever”.

First he sang at his inauguration, later he gave him the finger, and now Ricky Martin is back to criticize old friend George W. Bush and his administration:
Puerto Rican singer Ricky Martin has lifted his voice against the U.S. government, accusing it of “mortifying entire populations”. In an interview with Italian newspaper Il Messaggero, the musician says that he can no longer “accept the decisions made by the U.S. administration in silence.”
Just how far Ricky will go in speaking out against the Bush administration remains to be seen. As I’ve said before, it would have been nice to have seen him take this position a very long time ago.

The Chilean capital of Santiago fell asleep last night to an explosion outside the British embassy there. Thankfully there were no casualties or injuries. Around 10:15 pm “a small cylinder with exploding powder and a timer” went off. No organization has yet taken credit for the explosion and a police investigation is underway.

Would you vote for a Catholic Bishop to be your nation’s next president? The citizenry of Paraguay may very well have that option. Enter the “Bishop of the Poor”, Fernando Lugo. He resigned as bishop last year, but the Vatican has refused to accept his resignation, saying being a bishop is a lifelong thing and they are not too happy with Lugo deciding to run for his nation’s top seat. Clergy are forbidden from seeking political office and Lugo could actually be excommunicated if he continues his campaign. Many people in Paraguay aren’t happy either, seeing Lugo as attempting to break 60 years of unbroken rule by President Nicanor Duarte’s Colorado Party.
