Copa America : Argentina Moves to Quarterfinals (RIP Colombia?)

Juan%20roman%20Riquelme.jpgLast night’s Copa America match between Argentina and Colombia was absolutely enthralling, even though many of my Colombian friends couldn’t even bare to watch it saying the Colombian team has been playing horribly. Argentina beat Colombia 4-2 (with Argentina scoring three goals in the first half). Two goals came via Juan Roman Riquelme who came out of retirement just before he led Boca Juniors last month to its sixth Copa Libertadores championship (good move). Yesterday’s win put Argentina in the Copa America’s quarterfinals puts Colombia on the verge of elimination with one match remaining against the United States.

As a fan of “los gringos” and “los cafeteros” I was thisclose to dropping a bowling ball on my TV.

*grumble, grumble*

For the record, I’m hoping for a U.S. victory over Colombia just so I can have something to brag about over my soccer-mad cousins in Bogota!
