Shakira ain’t a fool. As rumors swirl around her relationship with bf Antonio de la Rua being on the rocks, it has been revealed that when she entered into the relationship, she made sure Antonio wouldn’t be making off with her cash:

“The separation was denied, but it was discovered that a few years ago they agreed to sign papers to cover two possible scenarios: that they get married or stay in a unmarried relationship,” according to the Bogota magazine Semana.

The magazine says that both “contributed to the conjugal relationship — or the parental relationship — whichever the case will be, a symbolic sum of $20,000.”

With that, according to Semana, each one of keeps their own wealth “no matter what happen in the future”.

Somehow I feel like this was to protect Shaki, and not Antonio, who mean, gossipy people refer to as “el mantenido” (“the kept man”).
