It’s not enough that the Pope wants to tell us what to do and what not to do with our own bodies — now he wants to cramp our driving style. The Vatican announced today, via press release, its Ten Commandments of Driving. Heed thee:
The 36-page document was put together by the Vatican’s Pontifical Council for Migrants and Itinerant People.“Thou shalt not drive and drink”, “thou shalt not make rude gestures behind the steering wheel” and “help accident victims” are among the 10 recommendations for motorists.
The document also warns that driving can bring out “primitive” behaviour in motorists, including “cursing, blasphemy, loss of sense of responsibility”.
It says that automobiles can be “an occasion of sin” – particularly when they are used for dangerous overtaking or for prostitution.
I’m guessing the Pope-mobile has never been the site of such transgressions.

Former model, VJ, and infomercial star Daisy Fuentes, is accused of using sweatshop labor for her clothing line sold at Kohl’s. Last year the same organization, The National Labor Committee, called out Thalia for the same thing.
You’d think celebs would do a little more research (or have someone do research for them) before slapping their name on a product. Or maybe they just don’t care as long as they are making a buck.

Brazil, Latin America’s largest country, is also the most connected, according to a recent study published by eMarketer. Brazilians are online en masse in numbers that are expected to double between now and 2011, as more and more people get broadband connections.
According to the report Brazil is the country with the third most broadband connections in the Americas, following the United States and Canada.
EMarketer also points out that while high-speed internet connections are still inaccessible to most people because of cost, Brazil leads large Spanish-speaking Latin markets Mexico and Argentina in terms of the number of people connected.

Raul Castro’s wife, 77 year old Vilma Espín, passed away yesterday after a long battle with an undisclosed illness (sickness seems to be a state secret in Cuba). She graduated from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and played a key role in the Cuban revolution, heading the urban-based Frank País Eastern Front and ferrying messages to Fidel Castro while he was exiled in Mexico. Espín and Raúl Castro wed shortly after the revolution’s 1959 triumph. Some rumors have them separating some 20 years ago. In fact, some reports claim that he remarried. They have four children together. In 1986, Espín became the first woman member of the Cuban Communist Party’s ruling Political Bureau. A founder of the Cuban Federation of Women, she was also a member of the legislative National Assembly.
