When is a terrorist not a terrorist? When your name is Luis Posada Carriles and when you have government officials across the U.S. asking for mercy on his behalf. Well it looked like it worked.
Yesterday, U.S. District Judge Kathleen Cardone threw out immigration charges against Posada Carriles, and ordered his electronic tracking bracelet removed. He had been free on bail, pending an immigration trial that was scheduled to begin this week.
Never mind that Posada Carriles looks tremendously guilty for his involvement in a U.S. supported bombing of a Cuban airliner that killed 73 people, including the Cuban Olympic Fencing Team.
Compare this treatment to the treatment of the many unknowns being held in Guantanamo Bay , Cuba by the U.S. with no clear charges. Compare this treatment to how quickly six Muslim men accused of planning to attack Fort Dix in New Jersey will be sentenced.
