Chavez lashes out at ex-presidents

12:57 H | Topics: Mexico - Peru - Politics - Spain - Venezuela

300306chavez.jpgVenezuelan president Hugo Chavez is spittin' mad at comments made recently by ex-Spanish president Jose Maria Aznar (a personal friend of Chavez's nemesis, Bush) who, at a conference in Philadelphia, urged the world to see to it that Cuba change its course after the death of Castro. He also said that Latin America needs to "open itself up to democracy." There are too many things about these comments that could piss Chavez off, and not to be outdone, he lashed out, accusing the Spanish ex-president of being a pawn for Bush:

..."he is a facist and he also supported the (April 2002) coup, he's of the same sort as Adolph Hitler, a true Bush lackey," said Chavez.

fox_aznar.jpgWhile on the topic of lackeys, Chavez took advantage of the chance to expand on all of the other ex-leaders he considers to be pawns of the U.S. "empire", among them the ex-presidents of Peru and Mexico, Alejandro Toledo and Vicente Fox. Speaking at a governmental education event in front of students in Guárico state, Chavez said:

"They disgust me and I feel sorry for them," referring to the recent public criticism lodged at his government by the three ex-presidents, whom he accused of creating "a kind of group" to "speak against Chavez and against Venezuela."skeletor.jpg

Now, Aznar, Toledo and Fox "say what they didn't dare say when they were presidents."

Call me crazy, but when I read the insults thrown back and forth by Chavez and his various enemies, I feel like I'm watching a live action version of a He-Man cartoon. Just think Skeletor with a Venezuelan accent.

Skeletor: I ache to SMASH YOU OUT OF EXISTENCE! To DRIVE your cursed face FROM MY MEMORIES FOREVER!
He-Man: Enough talk!
Skeletor: Yes! Let this be our final battle!

While the accusations may be true, Chavez does himself no favors by coming off as a delusional Skeletor-like character who parrots the words "against Venezuela" over and over again. "Us against them" sounds curiously similar to the rhetoric his arch-enemy Bush seems to always resort to in times of criticism. Get a new line!
