The Tax Man Cometh for Marc Anthony

marc_anthony.jpgAs we are in the midst of tax season, I must ask this question again: why can't celebrities pay their taxes?

It seems that JLo's hubby is joining the ranks of celebs who owe the government megabucks for not paying their taxes, reports Spain's El Pais:

At least three companies he owns have not paid their taxes correcly and have been told to pay 2.5 million dollars to the state and city of New York. They will also have to pay an additional $180,000 in fines.

The companies involved are Ari Enterprises, which administers the singer's tours, the record company Bolero Records and Marc Anthony Productions (MAP). In the case of Ari and Bolero, the lack of payment was for the period from 2001 to 2004. Marc Anthony also didn't pay his personal taxes during that period.

Both Ari and Bolero have pleaded guilty and are awaiting a sentence to be given on June 7th.
One of the parties to plead guilty was Marc's own brother, who acted as business manager for the tax delincuent companies. Marc himself says he's "shocked".

I hope what they are saying about him and JLo being on the rocks isn't true, as he might need her to get him out of this mess.
