Salma teams up with MGM to promote Latino actors

salma-hayek-pics.jpgHollywood likes to act as if there aren't enough Latino actors to fill the roles of Latino characters in movies. They'd much rather have an Italian-American learn a few lines of Spanish than cast someone that's actually Latino. Superstar Salma Hayek seems to have noticed this, and is partnering with MGM to promote Latino talent, and also create Latino-themed films with mass market appeal.

"This deal represents an amazing opportunity to draw upon the entire range of ways the Latin world can contribute to the film industry," Hayek said. "We want these movies to appeal to everyone, but we also hope to make Latino audiences proud."
According to AP, Salma's new production company will be called Ventanazul, and will release between two and four films a year, which will be marketed and distributed by MGM. Go Salmita! Not only is this great for the community and Latino visibility, it's filling a market need.

This is GREAT. More people should support her, what she's doing in PHENOMENAL...just think this will open up a whole new VENTANA for Latinos EVERYWHERE...and help aspiring Latino actors be WHO they are, and not have to succumb to lesser roles or roles that don't even fit them.
ROCK ON SALMA!
