Geraldo and Bill O'Reilly go to verbal blows
12:32 H | Topics: Controversia - Immigration - Labor - TV
Last Thursday night, Geraldo Rivera and Bill O'Reilly -- "journalist" buddies on the Fox News Network -- did something that two personalities on that network seldom do: disagree with each other. Fervently.
The topic was the death of two Virginia teenagers as the result of an automobile accident caused by a drunk driver who just happened to be an undocumented immigrant.
Normally conservative Geraldo went out on a limb (for a Fox News personality) to accuse O'Reilly of blaming the fact that the driver was in the U.S. illegally for the death of the victim.
Video after the jump.
Some highlights from the screaming match (your own throat will hurt after watching this) are the following comments from Geraldo:
"If Ramos [the drunk driver] were Rasminski would we care?"
"Lou Dobbs regenerated his dead career on the backs of illegal aliens..."
and
"Don't obscure a tragedy to make a cheap political point."
The video is a must-watch, even if the duel was nothing more than a publicity stunt for Fox. I mean, isn't that what every episode of The O'Reilly Factor is?

Two well known commentators in a heated argument taking different sides on illegal immigration and then settling like they're buddies - Hmmmm. Whose attention are they trying to get? They both made good points. We don't need illegal immigrants and we don't need drunks driving. According to ICE website about one third of the illegals in our country are criminals and everybody knows what drunks behind the wheel are capable of.

Keep in mind that illegal immigrants are violating numerous laws including wage and hours laws and Social Security laws. These were hard fought liberal achievements and their undermining weakens the social fabric.

Hey D Byun, are you on crack?
"illegal immigrants are violating numerous laws including wage and hours laws and Social Security laws"
Who the hell do you think pays them? American companies EMPOWER them to break those laws when for the most part they dont know better and get paid well below a fair wage. If you had any damn sense you'd realize its those american companies that are weakening your social fabric. Immigrants, illegal or not have always been the social fabric of america.

Geraldo wants americans to support amnesty for illegal aliens and increased immigration but he doesn’t want americans to know the long term consequences. That is his true problem with O’Reilly’s connection of the drunk driving and illegal alien issue.
“Statistics from the UNC Highway Safety Research Center show that in 2005 there were 37 alcohol-related crashes caused by Hispanics for every 10,000 Hispanics in North Carolina. That is more than three times the number for other groups.”

When you push Americans to do something but actively try to hide relevant information from them, as Geraldo is doing, that is coercion, pure and simple.
