People can call President Hugo Chavez many names but a lush isn’t one of them.
President Hugo Chavez has imposed a ban on alcohol sales during Holy Week in an attempt to reduce accidents and crimes, prompting a run on liquor stores.
The decree prohibits alcohol sales on Holy Thursday, Good Friday and Easter Sunday next week. A more limited ban — restricting sales to between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m., including at restaurants and bars — went into effect Friday and will last through April 9.
Well I sure won’t be celebrating Easter at Hugo’s house. First they take away my chocolate, now my wine. What’s next? A ban on Peeps?

Actually, telenovelas. No joke.
It was a story on Sunday’s Univision newscast. Chavez says folks are so obsessed with telenovelas that they’re losing sight of the big picture and subjecting themselves to capitalistic tendencies.
So he wants them to read socialist books instead.

Its too bad, socialist idea are not too bad and some would be great here in the U.S. (healthcare?) but if Chavez goes too far the whole thing will flop on its face and we’ll be stuck with capitalism.
