30 Mar 2007Mexican author Carlos Fuentes, on hand in Colombia to help his buddy Gabriel Garcia Marquez celebrate his homage at the International Spanish Language Congress in Cartagena de Indias, had a few things to say about the need for U.S. politicians to speak Spanish, and about our current president:
“He is the worst president of that country that I’ve seen in my lifetime. I’m willing to forgive Ronald Reagan and Nixon, because he is so atrocious and does so much harm that I have never seen anything comparable in terms of stupidity, arrogance and ignorance. This has been a catostrophic presidency and is still causing very dangerous situations in the world,” said the author.

Just when you thought the abortion debate in Mexico City couldn’t get any hotter, Mexico City mayor Marcelo Ebrard Casaubon announced to pro-life activists who are demanding he stop legalization of abortion that he would not veto the bill once it comes to his office, and described the president of one pro-life organization as “fascist”:
“What you are asking me to do is to veto a bill that hasn’t even been approved yet and I’m not going to veto it. I’ve never vetoed any bill approved by the Legislative Assembly, and I’m not vetoing this one either,” he said.
Ebrard, who once again referred to Serrano Limón [president of Pro-Vida, pictured at left] as a person with a fascist nature…explained that he will respond to the request as he would with any other citizen and said “because I AM a very tolerant person.”

Looking for something that goes to the original Easter message and is tasty for your Easter basket? Then look no further. “My Sweet Lord” is a 6-foot anatomically correct milk chocolate sculpture of Jesus Christ.
“This is one of the worst assaults on Christian sensibilities ever,” said Bill Donohue, head of the watchdog Catholic League. “It’s not just the ugliness of the portrayal, but the timing — to choose Holy Week is astounding.”
The 6-foot sculpture by artist Cosimo Cavallaro was to debut Monday evening, the day after Palm Sunday and just four days before Roman Catholics mark the crucifixion of Jesus Christ on Good Friday. The final day of the exhibit at the Lab Gallery inside midtown Manhattan’s Roger Smith Hotel was planned for Easter Sunday.
