Castro won't stop calling Chavez

Fidel-Castro-Adidas-Phone.jpgChávez and Castro are always on the phone (ever heard of email?). Chávez would never admit it, but I wonder if he gets tired of Fidel constantly calling. Spain's 20 Minutos reports that Castro's aides say he never stops using the phone and (he must be really bored) called and interrupted a meeting between Chávez and the president of Haiti, Rene Preval, and got himself involved in the conversation.

What do these two Latin American leaders chat about on the phone? It's pretty much all La Revolución all the time. Cuba's Granma published the latest conversation:

CHÁVEZ: How can you interrupt me, I'm talking to the the Industry Minister of Haiti. You are interrupting me now...

CASTRO: Because I am nosy...

CHÁVEZ: You have always been nosy. All this people's revolution in the streets, it's your fault. ¡Viva Fidel, damn it! (...) How are you?

CASTRO: I'm very good. I've been following everything closely. I haven't missed one speech from any of the events.

CHÁVEZ: Everyone is here looking at me and the phone and waiting. Too bad that it's not a speakerphone because all of them would like to hear your thunderous voice. Your voice has strength like never before, Fidel...

CASTRO:
This voice I have is not for everyday use, it's for talking with you all.

CHÁVEZ:
Hey, Fidel, we're here in the house of government, in the Palace, it looks like the White House, by the way...I don't want to offend Preval with this call....Hey, I'm going to step out onto the balcony so that you can hear the sound of the people. They've got us surrounded. There's a multitude beyond those gates! What do I tell those people, Fidel?

CASTRO: (...) ¡Hasta la victoria siempre!

This actually is only the "highlights" of the conversation. Granma published the entire interminable conversation. Ugh. As much I hate talking on the phone, I think I'd have to let him go to voicemail.

Mr Matenga what do you mean "cant Mugabe learn from these fine gentleman?"

Well MUGABE HAS LEARNT FROM fIDEL-HE has learnt to stay in power as long as health permits.

There is always something wrong when sobody stays in power for more than 15 years whatever the excuse might be. but to stay in power from 1959 or 1980 to the present is not something to be applauded.
