Large Scale Immigration Raids in New Bedford

16:30 H | Topics: Massachusetts

bc_060322fastimmigfedbldg5571g_100.jpgYesterday I received an urgent email from organizers in New England about Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) conducting a large scale raid at a factory in New Bedford, Massachusetts.

The owner and three managers of Michael Bianco, Inc. (MBI) were arrested by federal authorities this morning in connection with alleged hiring of illegal aliens. Another individual was arrested on charges that he provided fraudulent identification documents to workers at the factory. As a result of today's arrests and search warrant, hundreds of MBI employees will be interviewed carefully to determine their alienage and immigration status. Aliens who are unlawfully in the United States will be charged administratively and placed in removal proceedings.

This raid is being compared to the scale of the Swift factory raids that went down last year.
Industries across the country are being impacted as they lose workers and are unable to replace them because people are downright afraid to work.
