Pedro Knight passes away at 85

Pedro Knight, accomplished Cuban musician and widower of the legendary Celia Cruz died this weekend at 85. Family members are not releasing details on his death, but say they will put out a statement later this week.

Pedro, Celia's "cabecita de algodón" was devastated by his wife's death in 2003 and his health had been gradually declining since her passing. In addition, Pedro has of late been at the center of controversy surrounding her estate and Celia's executors handling of her affairs. And, reports AP:

Last year, according to published reports, Knight was evicted from his home in Palo Alto for defaulting on the $6,050 monthly rent.

How sad that Pedro's last years were filled with such strife.

According to 20 Minutos, funeral arrangements are being made and that Pedro's final resting place will be next to Celia in a mausoleum in the Bronx.
