laura1.jpgEarlier this year we told you how Laura Bozzo, Peru’s answer to Jerry Springer,
had sprung back from her firing from Telemundo by scoring a show on Spain’s Telecinco network. The show was set to launch this weekend, but alas, some bad — and mysterious — novedades:

Telecinco had everything in place to start airing its new show with polemic Peruvian host Laura Bozzo. However, it seems that at the last minute things have gone wrong and the network has decided to cancel the program after taping the pilot episode.

It seems that this is not just a simple delay, because according to Fórmulatv, the entire crew of the show has been fired. The show was supposed to air on Saturday afternoons…

Evo denies relationship with ETA

2:03 pm By Jennifer Woodard Maderazo · Bolivia|Politics|Spain · Comments Off

3096-Evo-Morales.jpgBolivian president Evo Morales is denying ties to the Basque separatist group ETA, responsible for last month’s bombing of a Madrid airport parking lot and the deaths of over 800 people since 1968. The statement was in response to allegations by a Spanish newspaper that the group was seeking sanctuary in Bolivia:

The Spanish newspaper El Correo had reported that a lawmaker from Morales’ Movement Toward Socialism party visited the Basque heartland in June and met with members of Batasuna, ETA’s political arm.

The lawmaker, Feliciano Vegamonte, did not respond to repeated attempts to reach him Tuesday.

A day earlier, he confirmed to a Bolivian TV station that he made the trip and met with “people from social movements” but was not aware of any ETA ties.

El Correo said that with Cuban leader Fidel Castro ailing, ETA fears it could lose the lone country that offers it sanctuary. So it is looking toward Bolivia as a possible alternative. The paper quoted unnamed Spanish security officials as its sources.

Morales stated that in the past he has been linked to the FARC, and that these allegations were also unfounded.

Latinos beware: The NFL is out to get you

super%20bowl.jpgSuper Bowl XLI is on its way, and as we all know the game this year will be between the Chicago Bears and the Indianapolis Colts. Taking full advantage that the event is taking place at Dolphin Stadium in Miami, the NFL wants Latinos to start shifting from being ‘futbol’ fans to becoming ‘football’ fans.

NFL players will have to play nice during a touch football game scheduled between the football pros and the Telemundo pros. Novela actors and TV personalities will be pitted against the 300 pound tackling brutes of the NFL, all in the name of niche marketing.

There is a concert scheduled two days leading up to the main event, but don’t expect Jessica Simpson, Kelly Clarkson, or any other melanin-challenged celebrity to perform. This year, none other than Don Omar, Aventura, and Ivy Queen will be showcasing their talent and, the NFL hopes, hypnotizing Latinos to tune in next football season.
