feliznavidad.jpgI’m a sucker for the traditional trappings of navidad. This includes Christmas music in both English and Spanish. According to a recent press release, I am not alone.

In a report this week in USA Today about the latest National Airplay Audience Chart From Nielsen BDS and Arbitron, “Feliz Navidad” has ascended to the #1 position as the country’s most broadcast/favorite holiday song. This rise to the top of the holiday radio playlists follows the song’s astounding pattern of continued sales increases in recent years– even 35 years after its release. The public’s love of “Feliz Navidad,” is also represented by the fact that the track is currently the #1 selling Latin song at iTunes and the #2 overall selling holiday download at the dominant online music site – for the second year in a row.
