pinochet.jpgHave you noticed that whenever 91 year old former Chilean dictator Augusto Pinochet is brought to court or forced to admit the atrocities he oversaw during his 17 year rule he gets deadly ill?

Pinochet, was rushed to the hospital early Sunday, a week after he took “full political responsibility” for the actions of his government, which carried out thousands of political killings, widespread torture and illegal detentions. He was conscious and talking Monday after emergency surgery to clear a clogged artery that caused a heart attack, one of his doctors said.

You all have heard the saying, Mala yerba nunca muere. Well Pinochet is living proof of that. Pinochet was still under house arrest in Santiago de Chile on charges around the execution of two Allende bodyguards in 1973 when he became ill. He was scheduled to appear in court yesterday to appeal those charges. He’s used his health on at least two occasions to get out of facing trial for what he and his regime did during his rule including the unsolved disappearances of thousands of Chilean citizens.

“He is hospitalized every time he faces an indictment. That is why we have doubts this time, too,” human rights lawyer Hiram Villagra told Radio Bio Bio.
