colocolo.gifI have a confession. Soy Colo Colina, that is a fan of the Chilean Futbol team Colo Colo. This causes some problems between my boyfriend and I, him being a fan of la Universidad de Chile. Colo Colo, named after a Mapuche leader, is the first Chilean team in 13 years to make the regional finals of the Copa Sudamericana. The first leg of this final is going to played tonight against the Mexican team Pachuca in Mexico.

Many Colo Colo fans in Chile who had been waiting for hours to try and snag tickets for the second half of the final to be played in Santiago de Chile on December 13, found themselves ticketless and all wet.

Seven thousand fans waited for hours outside the club’s stadium in the Chilean capital but, when tickets went on sale, they were snapped up in less than an hour leaving some fans disappointed. They refused to leave, prompting police to use a water cannon.

The safest place to watch the Copa is in your living room, which is where I will be tonight. But I have to admit that when I lived in Chile it was the team spirit I witnessed that helped turn me on to futbol in the first place.

You can watch Colo Colo do its thing tonight at 8 pm (EST) on Fox Sports en Español.
