On-again off-again Hollywood couple Eva Longoria and Tony Parker are ready to tie the knot, according to AP/The Chicago Tribune:
“Tony flew into Los Angeles last night after his game and surprised Eva at her home as she got off work,” Liza Anderson told The Associated Press on Thursday via e-mail.“The proposal was romantic and perfect. The couple plans to wed in France in the summer of 2007 in what they describe as a big, happy ceremony with lots of family and friends.”
Congrats, Eva.
In not so happy Eva news, Longoria was named one of PETA’s “worst-dressed” as one of the many celebs who wears fur in public.

I have a confession. Soy Colo Colina, that is a fan of the Chilean Futbol team Colo Colo. This causes some problems between my boyfriend and I, him being a fan of la Universidad de Chile. Colo Colo, named after a Mapuche leader, is the first Chilean team in 13 years to make the regional finals of the Copa Sudamericana. The first leg of this final is going to played tonight against the Mexican team Pachuca in Mexico.
Many Colo Colo fans in Chile who had been waiting for hours to try and snag tickets for the second half of the final to be played in Santiago de Chile on December 13, found themselves ticketless and all wet.

No hoorays for Hollywood. Hispanic Tips linked to a story today with the headline “Study: Whites get majority of acting jobs” and added “is anyone surprised by these findings?” My answer is no, not surprising. Even with more Latino, blacks and Asians in television and film these days, it’s clear to anyone that whites dominate the entertainment business. According to the UCLA study:
Ethnic minorities were not cast in about 80 percent of first-, second- and third-billed leading roles in Hollywood films last year, according to a study released Wednesday. This level of representation of Latino, black, Asian-American and American Indian actors is based on a review of the 171 commercially released films in 2005 that reported a gross of at least $1 million.
In addition, the first-time study from the UCLA School of Law and the UCLA Chicano Studies Research Center showed that 69 percent of all casting notices for three months this summer specifically asked for white actors. Roles advertised for a specific ethnicity other than whites ranged from 0.5 percent to 8 percent of the total, it found.
Also during that three-month period, white actors could compete with minorities for an additional 8.5 percent of total parts – beyond the nearly 70 percent that specifically sought white actors.

With so much talk about immigration and paths to citizenship there is little talk about what people actually need to know before becoming a citizen. Today the U.S. Government is going to release 144 new questions that wannabe citizens will be able to try out in 10 cities across the country. Among some of the questions include why there are three branches of government and what were some of the causes of the Civil War.
The questions being released Thursday will be for the civics portion of the test and will be given orally to immigrants who volunteer to take the new draft test.Immigration officials want to narrow the number of questions to 100 and launch the redesigned test in early 2008.n the pilot, volunteers answering the new test questions can at anytime stop and take the current exam so as not to lose the chance to become a citizen.
