Latino old school rock Friday: Diggin’ in the crates

As loyal readers may have noticed, we are becoming more and more addicted to YouTube. My number one fascination lately is reliving some old Rock en español videos by my favorite bands, and digging up some that I never even knew existed.

Yeah, makes one feel a little old to see how dated all of these are, but it brings back great memories of when little old me was pretending to be a Rock en español DJ back in Tejas (don’t laugh). I was terrible, but now with YouTube I can feel more like a VJ for all of you. Rock en tu idioma was a great movement, and there’s nothing like a few nostalic hits to kick the weekend off right. Here are three of my favorites to take you back a few years and get your weekend going, 80s style.

Please leave your video requests in the comments section and we’ll try our best to dig in the crates of YouTube to find your faves, and post them here next Friday.

Me alegra saber that great music en espanol has not been forgotten amid all the fuss over what’s “popular” now.

OK, did I just sound 50 or what?

The other day I found myself looking up Timbiriche on YouTube.

Prisioneros’ Tren al Sur and Maldita Vecindad’s Morenaza were 2 of my faves back in the day of Daisy Fuentes’ MTV show on Telemundo (and remember 2nd Generation?).
