Salma hearts Penelope

526537_tn.jpgWell, I wasn’t fully able to fulfill my promise to report on Salma Hayek’s appearance on Ugly Betty last night. A little thing called the Latin Grammys got in the way. I was, however, able to see what must have been the “big” scene of the episode: Salma with no underwear on standing on Eric Mabius’ shoulders. But that’s all I can tell you, other than she looked beautiful (big surprise).

Salma has been up to other stuff, though. She appeared at a Hollywood screening of her homey Penelope Cruz’s new film, Almodovar’s Volver, where she gushed over the Spanish actress during a tribute program for Pe:

Salma Hayek, after giving her friend a huge hug, began to cry as she described her as “a fairy that is not of this world because these qualities are only seen on the screen, and it’s there where she feels more comfortable.”

Salma, joined in the audience by celebrities (including Prince) and Penelope’s family, couldn’t stop gushing:

Everyone was quiet except the Mexican actress, who opened her mouth to announce to the public that “today you will see the best of Cruz.” And “because Penelope is genius when she speaks but when Pedro writes what she says, she sounds more than ever like herself,” said Hayek, with pride.
