So unfortunately , La Mala was live at the 7th Annual Latin Grammy Awards but you all couldn’t be because of the ahem, less than helpful tech team at MSG couldn’t hook me up online.

Gustavo.jpgDuring the pre-telecast awards, el Rock Latino ruled.
Gustavo Cerati, won two awards, Best Rock Solo Vocal Album and Best Rock Song for Crimen. For those like me, who have been following Cerati from his Soda Stereo days, will be disappointed to hear that Soda Stereo has no plans in the near future to reunite but that it’s never out of the question.

Julieta%20Venegas.jpgThe darling of rock Mexicana Julieta Venegas won Best Alternative Music Album for Limon y Sal.

Best%20tropical.jpgTropical music is such a huge genre, including salsa and merengue, that all its facets couldn’t fit in the telecast alone so some awards were given in the pre-telecast. Included was best Traditional Tropical Album which went to Andy Montanez. He dedicated the award to his wife and Puerto Rico, saying that his win was a dream come true.

Picture%203.pngYeah, we know we’ll hate ourselves in the morning, but we’ve sold out, broke down, we did it: we have a MySpace profile.

I know, I know. And I don’t wanna hear it. As crappy as MySpace is, it is a very good way to reach a lot of people en masse, and spread the VL message. More readers means more interaction, better community and a more robust, entertaining blog for you.

So if you also have sunken to the depths of joining MySpace, why not add VivirLatino as a friend? You can check out our profile here. And be sure to add lots of lame comments to make it that much more fun.

ITUNES.jpgGood news for Latino music fans: Apple (oh, how I love Apple) has just inked an agreement with Telemundo for a Latino version of iTunes, which is already up and running. Órale!

Apple’s iTunes Store, the market leader in music downloads, has inaugurated iTunes Latino, a dedicated space devoted to Latin music, music videos, TV shows, audiobooks and podcasts.

And apparently it’s not all about music — you can download your favorite novelas on Latino iTunes, too!

The first offerings include the telenovelas “Pasion de Gavilanes” and “El Cuerpo del Deseo,” the reality show “Decisiones” and the mun2 reality program “The Immigration Special.”

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Apple wanted to take advantage of the launch’s timing lining up with the Latin Grammy Awards today.

Latin%20Grammy%20pre%20004.jpgI’m reporting live from inside Madison Square Garden where the 7th Annual Latin Grammy Awards are set to take place later. As you can see from the picture, crowds have already begun to line up outside by the green carpet to catch a fleeting glimpse of their favorite celeb. What they may or may not know is that many of the celebs are inside already doing a final run through. In fact I’m watching Kate Del Castillo on stage now, complete with fake applause. La India just got on stage to practice, wearing a grey fur coat and sunglasses. She’s doing a salsa tribute singing clasics. Shortly the Pre-Telecast Awards will be given out, including catagories like Best Merengue Album and Best Ranchero Album.

smalldress.jpgVivirLatino is off to check into the 7th Annual Latin Grammy Awards. The Spanish language coverage begins on Univision tonite at 7 pm live from the green carpet, but our Spanglish language coverage begins right here as soon as la Mala gets her computer setup. So be sure to check in……

In the meantime pick your faves and make your predictions of who will win, who will lose, and of course who just shouldn’t have worn that dress.
