Ricky Martin defends Madonna

A big stink is being made about Madonna's ability to fast-track (read: buy her way) the adoption of a young boy from Malawi. So much stink that the very private Madonna went on the Oprah show (which will air today) to challenge charges that her riches and influence had anything to do with the apparent ease of adoption, and that she took the child without his father's consent. Apparently part of the PR plan is also to get celeb buddies on the bandwagon in support of Lady M, and Ricky Martin has stepped up to the plate:
"I know Madonna as a mother, and she's exemplary," the Puerto Rican star told The Associated Press in a phone interview from Miami.Ricky (who Madonna was nuts about in the Vida Loca days) seems to be the best backup she has, since he is ambassador for UNICEF, and an ardent supporter of organizations that combat child trafficking."The love she gives her kids is a dream, and I know that her heart is big enough to adopt not just one child but to adopt 20."
Ricky also revealed that he himself would like to adopt a child...someday:
"Totally. I don't know when, but right now I am sponsoring three children in India and we have a very beautiful connection."Earlier this month, Ricky addressed Congress on a number of issues related to human rights and poverty.

If Madonna or Ricky want so badly to adopt children why don't they adopt children in the U.S. or Puerto Rico respectively? There are plenty of children w/o parents right here but no , they have to be trandy and have a "third world" child as an accessory. There are so many racial/cultural layers to this that need to be adddressed.
