Sex, caffeine and tobacco for a long life?

buenavista.jpgA new study done in Cuba claims to show that the secret to living a long life — as evidenced in the nonagenerian members of The Buenavista Social Club — lies in the incessant consumption of coffee, tabacco and…lovin’.

The longevity of Cuban musician Compay Segundo was not an exception: a study conducted in the Santa Clara region in central Cuba has revealed a fascinating piece of data: the people that live in the region easily reach 100 years of age, in spite of their elevated consumption of tobacco and coffee.

In addition, the elderly people surveyed stay lucid with varied interests, including sex.

According to Spain’s 20 Minutos, the majority of elderly Cubans have a diet based on the consumption of “fish, eggs, milk, non-red meats, vegetables, and boiled foods.” The study also attributes the famed longevity to the “hard work” that is a fact of life in rural Cuba.

Previously, we told you about Cuba’s Prensa Latina’s stance that the island was the perfect place to live to be 120 years old.

Italian pop tart Tiziano Ferro has been making the rounds in Mexico to drive the point home that he’s REALLY SORRY about saying that all Mexican women had moustaches. But sometimes pictures speak louder than words:

1160048460_extras_fotos_gente_0.jpgYep, that’s Mr. Inopportune Joke himself, having his pasty white legs shaved on national Mexican television by Otro Rollo host Adal Ramones. Way to preserve your dignity, Tiz! God.

Spain’s El Mundo also points out that prior to the shaving shenanigans, Tiziano was “on the verge of tears”.

Ugly%20Betty.jpgTonight is Ugly Betty night on ABC and if the numbers from last week’s premiere of the show, produced by Salma Hayek, were any indication, millions will be tuning in. 16.3 million people tuned to ABC to watch America Ferrera play Betty Suarez. I know I’ll be watching.

Oh and if you wanna dress like Betty Suarez you can start by wearing her signature “B” necklace, available online at ETS Shopping for the low price of $172.

225px-MarilynMilian.jpgWe can’t get a Latino judge onto the Supreme Court but if you watch daytime television you can watch a whole roster of Latino judges dole out justice in English. While the Cuban Dra. Ana Maria Polo continues to mediate disputes on Telemundo’s Caso Cerrado, you can take your pick of four Latino judges on mainstream English language networks. Three out of the four of the judges are Cubanos, and three of the four are mujeres.
