Today Monterrey, Mexico based band Kinky officially released their third album Reina. While the band’s official press release tells of Gilberto, Ulisis, Carlos, Cesar, and Omar retreating into the Southern California mountins to record this latest album, its the chaos that surrounded tham that probably conributed to the nonstop thumping beat party that is Reina. While the band sought peace and quiet in a hillside cabin to record, mother nature had a different plan. A mudslide literally covered their instruments. Not even that could stop Kinky.

In a preliminary ruling, Mexico’s Electoral Court (TEPJF) ruled Felipe Calderón had won the July 2 election and declared president-elect. The seven-member federal electoral tribunal decided that Calderón had won with a margin of about 234,000 votes.
The official ruling still has to be voted draft later on today. Once this has been carried out, Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO), who has been calling for the election to be annulled, will not be able to appeal the tribunals ultimate ruling.
It was reported AMLO’s supporters did not take the news very well. Reuters reports that explosions from the protest area could be heard in the courtroom.
Fearing this would take place, López Obrador, has already stated that he will never recognize Calderón’s victory and has vowed to establish a parallel government, which he and his supports are already drafting up their new constitution for Mexico.
Calderón’s victory is already being viewed as a geopolitical victory for the Bush Administration and a political boost for the United States in Latin America, where several leaders have been very critical of Washington.
