Since July 17 VivirLatino has been asking you, our readers, to choose from 20 varied Latino candidates ranging from musicians to politicians to business leaders as The Most Influential Latino 2006. Nearly 2000 of you placed your votes and 35% of you chose a Colombiana whose hips don’t lie, Shakira. 31% of you chose a Boricua from the block, Jennifer Lopez.
Seems like you all were about the entertainers because politicans and world leaders didn’t even come close. In way behind third place was Cuban leader Fidel Castro with 7% of the votes. Fidel did beat out the rey of reggaeton Daddy Yankee though, who came in fourth place with 4% of the vote.
We know that many of who voted actively lobbied for your faves via message boards and other internet communities and we aqui at VL want to thank each and every one of you who participated in our first ever poll.
The top five that you, the people, along with the percentages who votes for each can be seen here.
