Pat Buchanan is Just Rehashing Old Hate

11:54 H | Topics: Bilingualism - Books - History - Immigration - Race

buchanan.jpgWhile Pat Buchanan makes the media rounds pimping his new book, Think Progress points how the his arguments really are the same rhetoric used over time in the United States against various immigrant groups.

Immigrants will dilute the white race:

If we do not get control of our borders, by 2050 Americans of European descent will be a minority in the nation their ancestors created and built. No nation has ever undergone so radical a demographic transformation and survived. [Buchanan, p. 11, 2006]

VERSUS

The number of purely white People in the World is proportionally very small…in Europe, the Spaniards, Italians, French, Russians and Swedes, are generally of what we call a swarthy Complexion; as are Germans also, the Saxons only accepted, who with the English, make the principal Body of White People on the Face of the Earth. [Benjamin Franklin, 1751]

Whoever said racism isn't part of the national character of the U.S. needs to read all the comparisons put out there. Sadly hate never dies, the rhetoric around it just changes ever so slightly.

Sorry, not buying it. Maybe 5 years ago but not anymore. Buchanan is right and more people are waking up to this fact everyday.

I would like to see any spanish language TV station news personality interview: Pat Buchanon, Anne Coulter, Neil Cavuto, or Sean Hannity.

These people are nutz! People like them need to step back and take a real good look in the mirror because they are whats wrong with America! They just promote hate under the guise of love for their fellow man (white)

Wow, you people are totaly not getting the picture. If the mexicans want to come to this land they should do it the legal by applying for citizenship, just like every foreign citizin has done. Why would you people support the illigal immigration into our country? Who knows who comes through those borders, bush doesnt seem to care and yet he makes a huge deal about national security. This is our countryy and we need to defend it from these illigals. This isnt about hate our racism ( as you try to play it off by ) its about protecting our SOVERENTY!

What does that have to do with illegal aliens invading our country? Stay on topic please.

First off this country does not belong to anyone. I could get into a whole debate and explanation about the issue, looking back historically taking the indigenous perspective or the perspective of many people across the country of how exactly this country was created. There are meny nations whose soveriegnty was violated (and continues to be violated) by the U.S.

Second, aliens come from Mars in movies and comic books, not over man made borders.

Third, illegal is not an adjective used to modify people. Actions may be illegal. People are not in and of themselves illegal.

Fourth, there is no invasion. Terrorists are not pouring in from Mexico, that is a fear mongering piece of misinformation.

Fifth, if you are going to make an argument, like you attempted to do, do so with at least spell checking and using proper grammar. It reflects poorly on you and your argument against undocumented people ruining the integrity of the U.S. when you can't properly use the English language you and those that share your opinion hold up so highly.

Get with the times please. I know my ancestors did some horrible things but we cant change what happened, its history. I totally do not agree with many issues involving this country's role in different issues (were kinda like the world police). Furthermore, you know what I mean when I say "illegal aliens", its just a phrase that's been givin to immigrants that come into our country illegally.

And yes, what these people in this day of age are doing is ILLEGAL, coming into our country mooching off our health care systems and taking advantage of many aspects me and you work so hard to provide for real Americans. Like I said, "If the Mexicans ( or any other nationality) want to come to this land they should do it the legal way by applying for citizenship, just like every foreign citizen has done."

You say there is no invasion, you are totally wrong. The are close to 30 million illegal Mexicans and counting in the USA as I'm speaking (the mass media and our government portrays only about 15 million but do some research, you will find out how many there really are.) Think about what you are saying when you say, "Terrorists are not pouring in from Mexico, that is a fear mongering piece of misinformation." You obviously have no clue what kind of world we are living into today, wake up and smell the coffee. I know a lot of stuff bush says is to control us with fear but you can never rule out the possibility of someone with evil intentions coming across the border illegally.

Lastly, I would like to apologize for my grammar above.
