There will be an open bar until midnight provided by Mãe de Ouro, exhibited artwork by women artists, music provided by The Housekeeper, DJ Kwala, and performers from the Willie Mae Rock Camp for Girls… plus the chance to win some REAL hot prizes.

Mexican election recount: more evidence of fraud

180728451_45ce789750_m.jpgThe “partial” recount of votes in the ever-controversial, never-ending saga of the Mexican presidential elections is revealing “errors” in polling places, according to Spain’s 20 Minutos newspaper, which cited this example:

One example, at polling place 2220 there area 21 missing ballots, and in another in Jalisco state 80 votes were registered as being for the “Nueva Alianza” party when they were actually for López Obrador’s coalition, “Por el bien de todos”.

Ricardo Monreal, representative for the leftist coalition said “there is no perfect crime, but there was electoral fraud against López Obrador and they’ve left their fingerprints everywhere.”

Monreal stated in a press conference that, so far, they have found tampering of voting stamps in 15 districts, “which is enough for judges from the Electoral Tribunal to reevaluate the decision that was made last Saturday to not accept a recount of 41 million votes.

Said tribunal rejected AMLO’s request for a full recount, stipulating that only 9% of polling places would be subjected to the recount process.

Will They Never Learn?

jlo5.jpgRemember the 2005 Grammy awards? Remember Skeletor and his wife singing together? Then you remember how bad it was but apparently they didn’t! DListed has some pics from the latest stop in the Juntos en Concierto tour, featuring Marc Anthony, Marco Antonio Solis, and Laura Pausini. It seems that last night J. Lo. and hubby shared a duet. As soon as they took Alejandro Fernandez off the Juntos en Concierto lineup, it was a wash for me. Now I’m really glad I haven’t attended this year’s version.

Check out all the pics of Marc and Jenny from the block at Dlisted

Cuba Information Crackdown

8:51 am By Jennifer Woodard Maderazo · Controversia|Cuba|TV · Comments Off

10 Aug 2006

pic_dishes.jpg9 days after Cuba’s President Fidel Castro ceded power to his hermano Raul to undergo emergency intestinal surgery, yesterday Cuba announced a crackdown on black-market satallite dishes that allow Cubanos to get news from the U.S. The Communist Party newspaper Granma warned:

They are fertile ground for those who want to carry out the Bush administration’s plan to destroy the Cuban revolution.

It is estimated that there are approximately 10,000 illegal TV satellite dishes in Cuba, each one linked to perhaps hundreds of televisions by cables their owners snake over rooftops and between buildings, charging other users $10 a month.

I understand the concern about subversive messages coming in, pero makes you wonder what is Cuba really hiding or protecting itself from?
