HP_Pavilion_Concert_Floor_1.JPGTelemundo’s Cotorreando reported today that Shakira’s concert in Croatia was a huge flop, with only 4000 people in attendance of the expected 20,000. Some blame concert promoters for bad marketing of the events, while other cite the fact that the tickets — priced at $56, according to Cotorreando — were well out of the price range for fans in a country like Croatia.

Spain’s EFE via Mexico’s El Universal reports that a lot more was lost on this concert than just money:

Owners of Luna Promotions, the company responsible for the event, are pulling their hair out over a loss 320,000 euros.

Aside from suffering one of the few failures of her career, Shakira is sad because the one who loses the most is a child who has a kidney illness. Part of the profits from the show were to go to his medical treatment.

Does this mean the child won’t receive treatment now? I felt bad for Shakira when I saw the tape, but being “sad” probably isn’t going to help much. Why not shell out the 320K for the kid? I mean, she was just named one of the richest latinas, with a fortune of 66 million dollars.
