A group of bloggers is demanding the beatification of the late Spanish singer Rocío Jurado, who passed away after a bout with cancer last month, according to Spain’s 20 Minutos newspaper:
The blog http://rocio-jurado-santa.blogspot.com/ has opened up debate about “la más grande” whom it describes as an exceptional singer that has inspired such artistic devotion, the intensity of which is comparable only to spiritual devotion.
Somehow I don’t see the Vatican signing off on this anytime soon, but props to these people (who appear to be from Estonia) for their enthusiasm

While it was everyone’s sincere wish that this year’s Mexican presidential elections come off without a hitch, it was not to be. While the IFE waits until Wednesday for a vote-by-vote count, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, the liberal PRD party’s candidate for president (and current second place candidate, according to his opponent) says that this year’s election is anything but “regular”. If fact, it seems it’s looking looking a bit chueca. As in 3 million missing votes:
Andrés Manuel López Obrador says he doesn’t know what the PREP (Programa de Resultados Electorales Preliminares, Preliminary Electoral Results Program) numbers are since, he charged, that the program has been manipulated since the beginning and that it contains and infinite number of inconsistencies that are working against him, among them less records of votes than those which he actually obtained, the existence of 3 million “lost” votes, and the fact that records for the presidental election and the delegates/senators election don’t match up.

What would a U.S. national holiday be without a little bit of bochinche to get you through the day? Jennifer Lopez‘s first ex-hubby, Ojani Noa, claims that Jenny from the block was doing trabajitos against people like P. Diddy, Diddy, Puff Daddy or whatever the hell he’s calling himself these days. According to the Smoking Gun website:
Noa testified that Lopez “was doing voodoo when we weren’t married. She was doing bad things to a lot of people when we were friends. And I knew all this time, because we did personally, me and her, to this particular lady.” Noa added that Lopez did voodoo and “all this religious bullshit” to former lovers, including Sean “Puffy” Combs. The purported voodoo practices apparently stem from Lopez’s religious devotion and the influence over her by a “Madrina,” which is often described as a spiritual mentor for Santeria practitioners.
See Noa lost all cred with me because of course Madrina could just be godmother not to mention the fact that Vodoun and Lucumi (aka Santeria) are two completely separate (but related) religions. Pero that’s a whole other post.
Ah bochinche as American as apple pie.

With the final results of the Mexican presidential election expected as early as tomorrow or as late as the weekend, depending on which news source you read, the leftist Democratic Revolutionary Party (PRD) and their candidate, Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, are prepping for the worse by not backing down. As votes continue to be counted and as the gap between Lopez Obrador and Felipe Calderon lessens (with Calderon leading according to sources), an article posted today on AlterNet states:
Lopez Obrador has said he will honor the results of a fair election, even if he loses by one vote. But if history is any lesson, Lopez Obrador is no Al Gore. He won’t walk away from a stolen election without a protest. His political rise has been characterized by having to respond to dirty tricks. And if anyone is justified in being a “firebrand” about stolen elections, it is Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador.
